Solid Wood is solidly behind a new interior basketball initiative called "Basketball for All"
There are many basketball academies in the lower mainland, but we are the first all year round basketball academy to service the Kamloops / Thompson River area. The biggest obstacle for us was finding the right facility. What we needed, we found it at Oasis Pentecostal Church, and we decided to give together the community what they needed: a brand new basketball facility in which young people can practice for this sport all year around!
Right now we are in the second phase of the gym renovation, where important help comes from Solid Wood Home Services. The owner of the company, Zelko Stojsavljevic left this message for all of our athletes: “I am really behind this progressive initiative for kids. The academy offers training and youth development for kids from ages 9 to 18. Our son Marko Stojsavljevic was going to Thompson River University and has always been an avid basketball player. Now he is coaching kids at this unique new facility which just built a state-of-the-art gym for practices, tournaments, and ongoing training. We are proud to sponsor such an academy.”
The full-size basketball court currently offers the youth of the Kamloops area the ability to train multiple times every day, participate in local tournaments and get ongoing coaching through team practices, small groups training, and individual lessons.
